Week 2 - Studio
Week 2 of University and we're still in the studio working on this Distant Friend Track. So far we're managing to hussle it together. We have all the instrumentation down and we came to our session this week with no Vocalist having confirmed their availability to come in to our session, i was a little bit worried about what we were actually going to do.. Considering we had the studio booked for 7 hours! Lucky we go onto Braeden who was coming in to do a bit of Uni work and said he would come in and help out! Big thanks to him for walking in and laying some vocals on a track he's never even heard.
So luckily we are pretty much ready to go on the mixing session, which i'm looking forward to! Always fun to have a bit of play with outboard gear and make the song as good as we can.
What i'm looking forward to most this Trimester is actually getting stuck into this Podcast assignment. My group "Victoria's Secret" is doing a sort of interactive Podcast journey that will take you off of a plane at Tullamarine, straight to Southern Cross station, and onto all the best free live music you can see around the Melbourne CBD and surrounding areas. I'm super keen to get stuck into making a podcast, as it's something i've never even really considered, yet i listen to podcasts for hours a day! When my lecturer Tim told us we would be making a 15 minute Podcast i literally wondered why i've never thought to get myself involved in Podcast Production. Having settled on what i think is a great Topic to represent why Melbourne is such a great music city, i can't wait to see how we put this together and what we can come up with!
This Trimester definitely seems like a bit of a step up in workload from our previous Tris, with quick turn arounds on our intensives. The main difficulty is not necessarily the workload, its finding reliable musicians to guarantee they will be in the studio on the day. However i'm looking forward to everything coming up, so fingers crossed we can find some good musicians for the Live intensive and have a bit of fun!
