Jingle Project

So for my next university assignment, and one i'm looking forward to giving a crack at, is the jingle project. Basically we pick a trailer for a game/movie/ad and recreate the sound effects/music. This is something i'm interested in doing after i finish my studies so i'm looking forward to jumping in on this assignment.

The Criteria for this assignment in groups of 3 we do a group jingle for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and then 2 minutes of our own solo jingles. in order to plan out the coming weeks, and how many sessions we need to get the job done i'm going to plan out a timeline for this project.

First off we do our group assignment which is a trailer of rocket travel by Elon Musk. Pretty synth based motivational trailer with no speech. A few rocket Foley noises. To plan out the timeline we are going to compose the backing track on Wednesday the 29th, then compile and put together the samples/foley needed on Thursday 30th. Ready to receive feed back on Friday the 1st. Leaving the weekend for a mix/spot session. Leaving the following week open for a solo jingles.

Secondly i plan for my solo assignment to re do the sound on the trailer for Dead Island 2. Basically it involves a young self absorbed guy going for a run on the famous venice beach in Los Angeles. He straps up his runners, covers up an ugly bit mark on his arm then whacks on his ipod and runs down the beach. All the while so self absorbed he doesn't hear or notice the zombie apocalypse happening around him.

For the Foley sounds i'll make use of samples of zombie noises and car explosions etc. With a bit of field recording of myself strapping up my shoes and basically getting ready for a run. Then for the music, i plan on doing my own song for him to go running to. The song on the original trailer is called "I'm the Bomb and i'm bout to Blow up" by Pigeon John. It's an upbeat kind of rap song thats got a tempo of 93Bpm and really suits the flow of the video. So my plan is the create a song with the same vibe on the drums and tempo, but with more old school kind of rock n roll guitar licks etc, something along the lines of Kick out the Jams by Rolling Stones. The video goes for just over 3 minutes which will make up the criteria of my solo project.

Because i have the microphones i would need at home to record the bits i would need i give myself Week 12 to start and finish.

Monday - Record all the foley and procure the samples you will need.

Tuesday - Compose the track - get feedback in class.

Wednesday - Put together the Foley and track in a Spot session

Friday - Get feedback again in Class
